Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of Salvador’s society regarding cannabis legalization as an instrument for increasing public revenue. To this end, a quantitative research, with a descriptive and explanatory character, was conducted through the application of a structured questionnaire via Google Forms to residents of the capital of Bahia. The final sample consisted of 221 respondents, whose data were processed in two stages: Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), performed with SPSS to validate the constructs, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), carried out with SmartPLS to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicated that the perception of economic benefits exerts a positive and significant influence on support for legalization. It was also found that support for the medicinal use of the plant positively impacts this support, while recreational consumption showed no relevant effect.
